Registered in Havana by the Upmann banking brothers, Herman and August, this brand was founded in 1844. In the 1920s the company was failing and subsequently bailed out by a British firm, J. Frankau and Co, who ran the factory until the mid-1930s, when it was sold to the newly founded Mendez, Garcia y Cia (Company). 

Among the best known H. Upmann sizes are the Magnum 46 and the Magnum 50 introduced in 2008. Important also to include are Sir Winston, the Connoisseur No.1 and smaller vitolas such as Corona Junior and Half Corona introduced in 2011.
